Malibu Poet Laureate Featured Poem

Malibu Poet Laureate Ann Buxie selects various poems that are featured in the bi-weekly City Manager's Message. 

City of Malibu Poet Laureate Programs 

Complimentary poetry workshops are open to poets of all levels. An RSVP is required for all 2022 workshops, which take place virtually on Zoom. Those who RSVP will receive a Zoom link the day before the program.

Caffeinated Verseincludes a featured reader, followed by an open mic format.

The Write Timethe Poet Laureate will use prompts and examples to explore different forms of poetry, inspire poetry approaches, and encourage new works.

Poetry Workshop: join Marsha de la O and Phil Taggart for a special poetry workshop. Workshop will take place in-person if permitted. Status of program will be announced in early March 2022. 

Calling All Creatures 2022 Poetry Summit: hosted by Malibu Poet Laureate Ann Buxie. Includes poetry, music, dance and art. Event will take place in-person, if permitted, at Malibu City Hall. Status of the event will be announced in early May 2022. The featured reader for this event is Peter J. Harris.

Tales by the Sea
Storytelling concerts for adults. These feature stories from a variety of cultures and are an opportunity to see people and situations through the personal experiences and humor of each teller.

Poetry by the Sea
Quarterly poetry concerts that bring to life the concerns and passions of this age. Each poetry concert includes an open mic after the featured poets.
